Research

Scientific research at the Titus Brandsma Institute has always had its own color and profile since the foundation of the institute fifty years ago.

The scientific study of Christian spirituality and mysticism has developed in accordance with the tendencies in academic theory formation, the development of methods and the emphasis on interdisciplinarity and internalization.

Thus a tradition has emerged of high-quality systematic and historical research into the Christian sources and figures of spirituality and mysticism. At the same time, the research has taken shape through the explicit involvement in social practice and through the sincere connection with the living traditions of the religious.
